Taste and origin

Our bees collect sunflower honey on the wide sunflower fields around Dolishte. In summer, part of our colonies moves right next to the fields.

It tastes mild and fruity-sweet, often with a light hint of apricot, and is less floral than acacia honey.

Crystallisation

Sunflower honey contains a lot of glucose, so it often crystallises within a few weeks. It turns pale yellow and finely creamy — an entirely natural process.

Use and storage

Once creamy, it spreads easily and does not drip — ideal on bread, rolls and pancakes. In warm tea or porridge it dissolves quickly.

Keep honey tightly closed, dry and at room temperature, ideally out of the light. If it has set, a warm water bath makes it liquid again — do not heat it above 40 °C, so the aroma is preserved.
